Twice Sold Tales
The original painting is titled "Twice Sold Tales" and is part of my series of mixed-media paintings, "The Capitol Hill I Remember." Each painting in this series depicts a beloved old Capitol Hill establishment that has since been replaced or forced to move by higher end businesses in this rapidly changing neighborhood. Capitol Hill is a neighborhood in Seattle that has been drastically impacted by gentrification. Twice Sold Tales is a delightful used bookstore that lives on in its new location in Capitol Hill. This piece depicts its original location at East John Street & Broadway Avenue East, where the Capitol Hill Light Rail Station is now.
The original painting is 14.5" x 20.5" x 2.5". I created the original painting in 2017 using beeswax, oil paint, graphite, and salvaged materials: old maps, pieces of antique mail, and other found and salvaged collage elements from my very cherished personal collection.
The original painting is currently available for sale for $650; please contact me if interested.
